Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.95(c)(1): The employer did not administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program as described in 29 CFR 1910.9(c) through (o) whenever employee noise exposures equal or exceed an 8-hour time-weighted average sound level of 85 decibels measured on the A scale, or equivalently a dose of fifty percent: a) Henry RAC Holding Corporation, 59 East 1st Street, Bayonne, NJ 07002 Employees operating the gun barrel drilling, rifle range, and barrel polishing operations were exposed to continuous noise at 75.3%, 162.2%, and 171.5% of the permissible exposure limit (PEL) eight hour time-weighted average sound level of 90 dBA which are 0.75, 1.62, and 1.72 times the allowable exposure limit. The action level is 85 dBA. The equivalent sound levels of the measured doses are 88.0 dBA, 93.5 dBA, and 93.9 dBA, respectively. Sampling was performed for 488 minutes, 495 minutes, and 469 minutes on 12/14/2012, with the un-sampled portion of time onsidered to represent zero exposure for the exposure calculation. Dosimeter threshold levels were set at 80 dBA. Conditions noted on or about 12/14/2012.
