Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the potential hazard of being crushed by a automotive lift: a/ Inside the shop area, operators of the Rotary Single-Post In-Ground Hydraulic Lift located in Bays #2 and #3 were not instructed in the safety requirements for the safe operation, inspection, and maintenance through the use of the manufacturer's provided instructions. One method of abatement to correct this apparent hazard is to perform operator training through the use of the manufacturer's provided instructions as required by ANSI/ALI ALOIM-2008, Standard for Automotive Lifts, paragraph 4.2.1.
