Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards associated with moving unstable stone slabs weighing as much as 2 tons that were not secured from tipping and falling: Location: Establishment On or about 5/18/11, employees transported heavy, narrow based stone slabs around the production floor by having one employee physically hold the slab steady, exposing them to crushing hazards. One feasible and acceptable means, among others, would be to use commercially produced heavy-duty slab moving equipment.
