Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)Against the north interior wall of the work/storage building adjacent to the supervisor/purchasing/parts dispatch offices located at 14005 NW 186th Street in Hialeah, Florida: Employees were exposed to fire and or explosions caused batteries containing sulfuric acid being stored under agents containing substances such as but not limited to water, on or about May 20, 2010. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to ensure the batteries and other agents containing reducing agents, metals, strong oxidizers and water are stored separately and according to manufacturers recommendations stated on the MSDS.
