Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazard: a)Bay # 1, Jet Room - To prevent the aluminum base of the jet propulsion base from warping a 1 1/2 Ton Jet Puller chain fall was installed with one chain end hooked to a pad eye which was welded to the plate and the other chain end was wrapped around an I-beam over sharp edges. Among others one possible and feasible abatement method is to follow the Jet Tool Group owners manual warning which states; "Never allow chain to set over sharp edges. All Pulls or lift must be made with straight chains that is free of obstacles."
