Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a struck-by/crushing hazard. On or about 01/05/07, at the BallenIsles Community, employees were exposed to a struck- by/crushing hazard when operating riding mowers not equipped with roll over protection systems. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to ensure the riding mowers are equipped with roll over protection systems. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
