Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushing hazard since seat belts were not worn while operating powered industrial trucks: (A)Job Site: On July 19, 2005, and at times prior thereto, employees operating Clark and Toyota powered industrial trucks, were not required to wear seat belts. ABATEMENT NOTE: Amongst other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to require the use of seat belts when operating forklifts (powered industrial trucks) throughout the establishment as required by ANSI/AMSE B56.1. Note: Abatement certification required for this item.
