Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: GUARDING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a) Ronfeldt Associates, Inc. - Toledo, Ohio: On or about August 18, 2005 the employer failed to ensure that emergency stop controls on Pierce Machine 57 in the Press Room were located at the operator control station. The emergency stop controls were located on the back side of the press, outside of the reach of the operator. Abatement Note: One feasible means of abatement is to comply with ANSI B11.2-1995 Hydraulic Power Presses - Safety Requirements for Construction, Care and Use, Section 6.3.5 which requires stop controls to be located at each operator station. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.t,
