Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)the hazard of falling from elevation while working from the fingerboard/monkeyboard of the mast of the #1 Workover Rig, located at the Edelblute #1 well, Powerline Road, Rosenberg, Texas. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard is to require the use of appropriate fall protection equipment when working from the fingerboard/monkeyboard, as specified by Section 5.5 of the American Petroleum Institute Standard RP 54-1999 Recommended Practices for Occupational Safety and Health for Oil and Gas Well Drilling and Servicing Operations.
