Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Being struck by an unsecured hand press. Employee operating a pedestal hand press, grabbed the top of the press causing the press to fall forward striking him in the chest and forehead. Violation occurred on or about 3/13/01 Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement to correct these hazards is to: 1. Secure the pedestal hand press by bolting to the floor or by other means.
