Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazaard of being struck by wheels on gantry crane: (a)East Bank, Gantry crane - The wheels on the crane trucks were not provided with sweeps to deflect personnel from the track in front of the wheels. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement to correct this hazard is to install sweeps on the crane trucks as outlined in the American National Standard ANSI B30.4!, Portal, Tower, and Pillar Cranes.
