Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees are exposed to potential fall hazards: a) Building 1143a - There was a stairway outside of the building that did not have a landing. b) Building 1143b - There was a stairway outside of the building that did not have a landing. ***ABATEMENT VERIFICATION IS REQUIRED*** Among other methods, one feasible method to correct this hazard is to install landing platforms, in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association 101, Life Safety Code, section 5-2.1.4.4.
