Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: FALLING
P.L. 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling from elevated work platform: A) Fulton Paper Building - Work platform basket attached to a Koehring skytrak forklift did not have a guardrail system that was of proper height on or about 3/2/98. B) Fulton Paper Building - Koehring Skytrack forklift was traveling while an employee was in a work platform in a raised position on or about 3/2/98. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: 1.Provide a work platform that has a standard guardrail system. 2. Prohibit the traveling of industrial trucks while employees are raised on work platform.
