Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the condition(s) listed below: Excel Corporation, I-27 Exit 54, Plainview, TX. For the period of time up to and including 4/2/99, receptacle outlet located in the employee bathroom of Excel Transportation was not ground-fault circuit-interrupter (GFCI) protected in accordance with NEC 210-8(b)(1). This exposed employees to injuries associated with electrical burns and shocks. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are: Installation of GFCI receptacles or GFCI circuit breakers.
