Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees who were exposed to steam, fire and explosion and hazards: (a) Boiler room; Workers who operate, inspect, repair, service and interchange equipment and parts on the three "Titusville" automatically fired natural gas boilers were not properly trained nor were they certified to perform these functions. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to ensure that workers receive training and education through examination and certification in accordance with the American Petroleum Institute, API 510, and the applicable portions of Sections V, VIII and IX of the latest edition of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME Code and ANSI NB-23. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM
