Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazards of hoist collapsing or chains or hooks failing: a)Owens Area, Lodestar 1 Ton Hoist, Labeled #1 - Frequent inspections were not conducted on the hoist, hooks, and load carrying ropes or chains. b)Main Bay Area, 1 Ton Hoist, Labeled #12, Attached to Wall Mount Jib Crane - Frequent inspections were not conducted on the hoist, hooks, and load carrying ropes or chains. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to: 1)Conduct frequent inspections as per ANSI Standard B30.16, Overhead Hoist Standard.
