Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) At jobsite at 1000 Alamada Drive where the accessible area within the swing radius of the rotating super structure of crawler type Koehring 566 backhoe was not barricaded in such a manner as to prevent employees from being struck or crushed by the backhoe. Among other methods, one feasible abatement method to abate this hazard is to install permanent stanchions with banding on the equipment tracks. Reference 1926.550(a)(9) ANSI Pg. 29.
