29 CFR 1910.138(a): General requirements. Employers shall select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. a) On or about November 22, 2024, the employer did not select and require the use of gloves rated for 277 volts, such as Class 00 rubber insulting gloves for an authorized employee exposed to thermal burns from electrical shock while changing out light fixtures on live 277 volts.
