29 CFR 1910.252(a)(3)(i):Welding or cutting was performed on used drums, barrels, tanks or other containers before they were cleaned so thoroughly as to make absolutely certain there were no flammable materials present, or any substances which when subjected to heat, might have produced flammable or toxic vapors. a. Site - On September 18, 2024, an employee was killed when he applied the flame of an oxygen/ acetylene torch a 55 gallon barrel containing an undetermined substance and vapors from freshly applied RectorSeal #5 Pipe Sealant causing an explosion.
