Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1)(i): The employer shall select, and have each affected employee use, the types of PPE that will protect the affected employee from the hazards identified in the hazard assessment: On or about December 20, 2023, at a facility located at 246 Trowbridge Drive in Fond du Lac, WI; the employer did not select and have Sanitation employees wear face shields while conducting sanitation operations that utilized caustic chemicals in COP tanks and during the spray application of sanitizing foam. The employer's PPE Hazard Assessment evaluated cleaning processes which could generate chemical splashing/irritating mists and identified safety goggles with face shield as protection needed. However, the employer did not require employees to wear face shields during cleaning operations.
