29 CFR 1910.1026(c): Employees were exposed to an airborne concentration of chromium (VI) which exceeded 5 micrograms per cubic meter of air, as an 8-hour time-weighted average: a) Building B78 - On or about January 8, 2023, and at times prior to, the employer exposed employee to respiratory hazards associated with hexavalent chromium in that, the employer failed to ensure that employees performing painting operations were not exposed to hexavalent chromium in excess of the permissible exposure limit (PEL) at 5 mcg/m3 of air, which was calculated as an 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) of 325.8 mcg/m3, 585.2 mcg/m3, 538.8 mcg/m3, and 535.8 mcg/m3, of air during 96 minute sampling performed on 1/08/2023. b) Building B77 - On or about January 11, 2023, and at times prior to, the employer exposed employee to respiratory hazards associated with hexavalent chromium in that, the employer failed to ensure that employees performing painting operations were not exposed to hexavalent chromium in excess of the permissible exposure limit (PEL) at 5 mcg/m3 of air, which was calculated as an 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) of 117.9 mcg/m3 of air during 18 minute sampling performed on 1/11/2023. LOCKHEED MARTIN CORPORATION WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 29 CFR 1910.1026(C) WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 1423430 CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 4(a) AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON FEBRUARY 25, 2020, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT SITE 2, BUILDING 210-211 U.S. AIR FORCE PLANT 42, PALMDALE, CA 93599.
