Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a) On or about November 23, 2021, an employee operating the Box Stitcher machine was exposed to the point of operation hazard in that the machine was not equipped with a guard device. b) On or about November 23, 2021, an employee operating the Eberl� off-line core cutter, was exposed to pinch point hazards created by the feed table articulating while setting tubes to be cut. c) On or about November 23, 2021, an employee operating the Eberl� off-line core cutter, was exposed to point of operations hazards in that the machine was equipped with an inadequate guard that did not prevent employees access to the point of operation. d) On or about November 23, 2021, employees operating the Eberl� Sprial Winder machine on line one, were exposed to ingoing nip points and rotating parts hazards in that the machine was equipped with an inadequate guard that did not prevent employees access to the rubber winder. e)On or about November 23, 2021, employees operating the Eberl� feed saw on line one, were exposed to point of operation hazards in that the machine was equipped with an inadequate guard that did not prevent employees from accessing the point of operation. f) On or about November 23, 2021, employees operating the Eberl� Sprial Winder machine on line two, were exposed to ingoing nip points and rotating parts hazards in that the machine was equipped with an inadequate guard that did not prevent employees access to the rubber winder. g) On or about November 23, 2021, employees operating the PACO cut-off saw on line two, were exposed to point of operation hazards in that the machine was equipped with an inadequate guard that did not prevent employees from accessing the point of operation.
