29 CFR 1926.251(a)(6): Each day before being used, the sling and all fastenings and attachments shall be inspected for damage or defects by a competent person designated by the employer. Additional inspections shall be performed during sling use, where service conditions warrant. Damaged or defective slings shall be immediately removed from service. a. 136 Summit Avenue Jersey City, NJ Employees were using synthetic sling(s) for hoisting material, including concrete blocks, from the ninth floor to the elevated work platform. The sling(s) were not visually inspected for damage or defects by a competent person prior to use, thereby exposing employees to struck-by hazards. Violation occurred on or about 03/10/2021
