29 CFR 1926.502(b)(3): Guardrail systems were not capable of withstanding, without failure, a force of at least 200 pounds (890 N) applied within 2 inches (5.1 cm) of the top edge, in any outward or downward direction, at any point along the top edge: a) On or about May 19, 2020; top-floor area; Employees performing housekeeping and framing related tasks were exposed to a 40 to 50 foot fall hazard in that the construction of the guardrail system, including, but not limited to 12 foot long spans of railing without additional bracing, and attached to the outside of the vertical posts, did not meet the 200 pound requirement. b) On or about May 19, 2020; top-floor area; Employees performing housekeeping and framing related tasks were exposed to a 40 to 50 foot fall hazard in that the construction of the guardrail system, including, but not limited to the securing of the vertical posts, did not meet the 200 pound requirement. c) On or about May 19, 2020; top-floor area; Employees performing housekeeping and framing related tasks were exposed to a 40 to 50 foot fall hazard in that the construction of the guardrail system, including, but not limited to the number of nails used to secure the system, did not meet the 200 pound requirement. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet), in addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include but is not limited to evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
