Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.453(b)(2)(i): Lift controls shall be tested each day prior to use to determine that such controls are in safe working condition. On or about January 22, 2020 at the job site, an employee was exposed to collapse hazards while operating an aerial lift after not detecting the presence of loose or missing bolts prior to operation of the aerial lift and without testing lift controls. The Operator's Manual states that a pre-operation inspection should be conducted to check the following components or areas for damage and improperly installed or missing parts, including nuts, bolts and other fasteners and to be sure that all structural and other critical components are present and all associated fasteners and pins are in place and properly tightened.
