29 CFR 1910.22(c): Access and egress. The employer must provide and ensure each employee uses a safe means of access and egress to and from walking-working surfaces. (a) On or about October 1, 2018, the employer did not ensure maintenance employees working at 3133 East Kemper Road, Cincinnati, OH, had a safe means of access and egress to and from the Vulcan parts washer to prevent injuries from hot water in the tank of the parts washer while accessing the machine by stepping on the cover of the tank, which was not secured by bolts. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence, or written records.
