Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.107(c)(6): Wiring type approved. Electrical wiring and equipment not subject to deposits of combustible residues but located in a spraying area as herein defined shall be of explosion-proof type approved for Class I, group D locations and shall otherwise conform to the provisions of subpart S of this part, for Class I, Division 1, Hazardous Locations. Electrical wiring, motors, and other equipment outside of but within twenty (20) feet of any spraying area, and not separated therefrom by partitions, shall not produce sparks under normal operating conditions and shall otherwise conform to the provisions of subpart S of this part for Class I, Division 2 Hazardous Locations. a. On or before June 6, 2018, in the East bay, a portable outlet box containing two 120 VAC duplex receptacles and powered by a flexible cord located in the demarcated spraying area was not approved for a Class I Hazardous Location. The outlet box and cord were covered with paint overspray. b. On or before June 6, 2018, in the East bay, a damaged extension cord with a missing ground prong used to power the Wagner portable sprayer (model: 0277063; S/N: M9600622) located in the demarcated spraying area was not approved for a Class I Hazardous Location. The extension cord was covered with paint overspray. c. On or before June 13, 2018, in the East bay, a 480 VAC disconnect box (P5-10) and outlet located on the North side of the exterior wall in the demarcated spraying area were not approved for a Class I Hazardous Location. d. On or before June 6, 2018, in the East bay, a 480 VAC disconnect box/outlet and an outlet containing two 120 VAC duplex receptacles located on the South side of the exterior wall in the demarcated spraying area were not approved for a Class I Hazardous Location.
