29 CFR 1928.57(a)(8)(i): Guards used to provide the protection required by this section were not designed and located to protect against inadvertent contact with the hazard being guarded. a. In the manure building, on or about 11/19/17: The NCS manure separator machines were quipped with safety interlock switches on the hinged lids. The interlocks were not functional or had been removed which allowed the brushes and rollers to rotate with the lids open. Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
