29 CFR 1910.22(a)(3): Walking-working surfaces are not maintained free of hazards such as sharp or protruding objects, loose boards, corrosion, leaks, spills, snow, and ice. The employer does not ensure walking-working surfaces are maintained free from hazards. a) This violation was observed on or about November 15, 2017, in the plating area, employees were allowed to access and work from elevated platforms that had sections of the grating separating from the frame. Employees were exposed to fall hazards. b) This violation was observed on or about November 15, 2017, in the plating area, employees were allowed to access and work from elevated platforms that had a build-up of a chemical substance on the grating. Employees were exposed to fall hazards. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation describing the steps that is taking to ensure elevated working levels are repaired and free from fall hazards.
