Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:

29 CFR 1926.760(a)(1): Each employee engaged in a steel erection activity who is on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet above a lower level shall be protected from fall hazards by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, positioning device systems or fall restraint systems: (a) SorConCo LLC at 7507 Weld County Road 39, Fort Lupton, CO 80621: On October 3, 2017, the employer did not ensure that a fall protection system was utilized when employees removed old metal decking and installed new metal decking on the roof of a hangar building. While working on the roof an employee stepped onto and fell through a deteriorated and damaged plastic corrugated skylight panel. The fall of approximately 16 feet resulted in a fatality. This condition exposed employees to a fall hazard of approximately 16 feet. (b) SorConCo LLC at 7507 Weld County Road 39, Fort Lupton, CO 80621: On or before October 3, 2017, the employer did not ensure that a fall protection system was utilized when employees removed old metal decking and installed new metal decking on the roof of a hangar building, in that metal decking was staged near the edge of the roof on the west side of the building. This condition exposed employees to a fall hazard of approximately 16 feet.
