29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer shall instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his work environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury. a. On or before June 8, 2017, where an employee used a portable extension ladder to perform touch-up painting to the interior of a two story great room, the employee was not trained on the safe use of ladders, thereby being exposed to falls of 18 feet which resulted in injuries that required overnight hospitalization.
