29 CFR 1910.147(c)(4)(i): Procedures were not developed, documented and utilized for the control of potentially hazardous energy when employees were engaged in activities covered by this section: On or about May 31, 2017, the employer did not ensure energy control procedures were developed for the newer injection molding machines. Employees perform maintenance and mold changes on the injection molding machines. Employees were exposed to the hazard of being caught-in the machine and/or an electrical shock hazard from an unexpected start-up of the machine. Energy control procedures were not developed for such machines as, but not limited to: 1. Sumitomo Demag SE385EV-A, injection molding machine. Some potential energy sources for this machine are electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic. 2. Sumitomo SE180E, injection molding machine. Some potential energy sources for this machine are electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic.
