29 CFR 1910.218(a)(2): Inspection and maintenance. It shall be the responsibility of the employer to maintain all forge shop equipment in a condition which will insure continued safe operation. On or about March 23, 2017, the employer did not inspect and maintain the safe condition of a point of operation protection device (metal prop). The metal prop is used as a safeguard device between the upper ram and the anvil during die changes at the CECO 20C gravity drop hammer.
