Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.22(a)(1): All places of employment, passageways, storerooms, and service rooms were not kept clean and orderly and in a sanitary condition: On or about February 1, 2017, and times prior to, (a) The concrete floor was broken and damaged along the diamond plating in Rod Storage leading into the Pickling area. (b) A hose was scattered on the floor at the northeast end of the Pickling area. (c) In the Course Draw area the handles on the floor covers for the electrical outlets that supplied power for the portable welders protruded approximately 2" from the floor. (d) The concrete floor was chipped and damaged along the steel plating over the trench in the Acid Cleanout Plating area. (e) The diamond plating was slightly jolted from the floor in the Fine Draw area where spools of wire were stored. These conditions exposed employees to the hazard of slips, trips and falls from the same elevation. Waste Water Facility: (f) There was a residual build-up of a sodium hydroxide solution adhered to the outside of the piping system to the waste caustic tanks. This condition exposed employees to chemical skin irritations.
