Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: a)Warehouse Area - The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees working at the alligator sheer were exposed to amputation injuries from an unintended actuation of a foot pedal. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to cover the activation foot pedal. IN THE ALTERNATIVE 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Machine guarding was not provided to protect operator(s) and other employees from the hazard(s) created by an unguarded foot pedal of the alligator sheer.
