29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1)(i): When the employer had assessed the workplace hazard(s) and determined that hazard(s) were present, the employer did not select and/or use the types of personal protective equipment that would protect the affected employee from the hazards: (a) 3M Company, 1301 Lowell Street, Elyria, Ohio: On or about February 13, 2016, the employer did not ensure that employees operating the CML #1 and CML #2 production equipment wore electrical protective gloves to protect from electrical shock. Voltage in excess of 500 volts, AC single phase, was supplied to the electrodes of the production line. Employees operating the production equipment were exposed to electrical shock hazards in that the employer provided the employees with gloves that, when new, were rated for a maximum of 500 volts. Employees were at risk of electrical shock from using gloves that were not rated for the supplied voltage.
