Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of fire: a.In the Lamination Department, where dual component coatings are sprayed on the hulls and where employees chop fiber there was no sprinkler system to protect employees from fire associated with these types of operations. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install automatic sprinkler systems in the Lamination Area where the hulls are being sprayed. This is recognized as an effective means of abating the problem on an industry-wide basis.ry-wide
