Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: CUTS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to cuts or finger amputations: A) Center of Shop, Dewalt Radial Arm Saw (no other identification)- the cutting head did not return to the starting position when released by the operator, exposing employees to contact with the rotating saw blade, on or about February 15, 1991. Among other methods, one feasible method is to install the radial saw in a manner so as to cause the cutting head to return gently to the starting position when released by the operator.
