Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) The hazard of an unguyed tower collapsing while employees were working on tower. Two employees working at approximately 40' high on (1) Rohn T.V. tower that was not guyed to prevent the tower from collapsing. On Baldwin Rd., in Rushville, NY. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, would be to install temporary guys to the tower section on the ground before it is hoisted. The points where these guys are to be attached to the tower, as well as the temporary anchorages for them, should be determined in advance. The tension to be achieved to the guys by tightening the turn buckles or other devices installed on the guys must also be predetermined.
