29 CFR 1926.651(j)(2): Protection was not provided by placing and keeping excavated or other materials or equipment at least 2 feet (.61m) from the edge of excavations, or by the use of retaining devices that were sufficient to prevent materials or equipment from falling or rolling into excavations, or by a combination of both if necessary: Along the southeast corner of the construction buiilding, on or about April 09, 2014, an employee was working along the bottom of a trench approximately 5 1/2 feet deep by 2 feet wide by 52 feet long excavation trench doing installation of electrical conduit system in which spoil pile was placed at the edge of the excavation trench.
