Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.132(f)(1): The employer shall provide training to each employee who is required by this section to use PPE. Each such employee shall be trained to know at least the following: a) A South Bend lathe was being operated with set screws sticking out of the collar approximately 7/8" while it was rotating without it being properly guarded. b) On or about 2/27/2014, an employee was polishing a metal shaft with a piece of emery cloth, creating an entanglement hazard caused by the rotating part in conjunction with loose clothing. The employee's glove and sleeves along with his shirt were pulled into the lathe causing fatal injuries.
