Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.176(b): Storage of material created a hazard: The employer is failing to ensure that the storage racks in this facility are secure. Storage racks, storing pallets of various pork products, had recognized hazards including, missing bolts in the racks, pallets hanging off of support braces and legs that were not secured to prevent the system from moving if struck by forklifts or overloaded. Employees are exposed to struck-by hazards including, but not limited to, material falling from racks and potential collapse due to failure of the system. Farmland Foods, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.178(b), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 775081, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on February 28, 2013, with respect to a workplace located at Crete, Nebraska.
