Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard: Go Green Bio Products, LLC, Dry Branch, GA - At the grinding station, the JET hoist was being used to suspend a magnet in the air. The hook used on the JET hoist was missing the safety latch, on or about 8/15/13. Among other methods, a feasible abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow ASME B30.16-2007, which states that frequent and regular inspections of electric overhead hoists should be conducted and hooks shall have latches installed.
