29 CFR 1910.37(a)(4): Safeguard(s) designed to protect employees during an emergency (e.g., sprinkler systems, alarm systems, fire doors, exit lighting), were not in proper working order at all times: The employer does not ensure exit lights are in proper working order at all times. a. This violation was observed on or about July 15, 2013, at the NE exit door where the light bulbs on an emergency exit unit did not work when tested. b. This violation was observed on or about July 15, 2013, at the SW exit door where an emergency exit light over the door did not work. Unitex Bag, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(4), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 316182450, citation number 01 item number 003 and was affirmed as a final order on June 14,2012, with a final abatement date of July 1,2012, with respect to a workplace located at 10550 Beaumont Hwy, Houston, TX. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that safeguards designed to protect employees during an emergency are in proper working order at all times.
