OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees from struck-by hazards from the use of below the hook lifting devices. Melders and Cut Off employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard by untested, unrated and unmarked below-the-hook lifting devices in conjunction with 10 and 15 ton overhead cranes and 1/2 - 2 ton jib crane hoists to lift crucibles with a crucible holder, furnace pots with a furnace pot lifting hook beam, and j-and s-hooks to lift aluminum parts onto tables, weighing approximately 25 to thousands of pounds.
