OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing and struck by hazards. (a) Bay 3 Center: A Walker lifting magnet used to handle steel sheet plate did not have the rated load capacity, weight of lifting magnet, duty cycle and other required identification information marked/affixed to the lifting device. This exposed the employee(s) to a crushing hazard. (b) Bay 3 South: A Walker lifting magnet used to handle steel sheet plate did not have the rated load capacity, weight of lifting magnet, duty cycle and other required identification information marked/affixed to the lifting device. This exposed the employee(s) to a crushing hazard. (c) Bay 2 North: Crane Operator(s) while operating Bay 2 North overhead crane did not remain a safe distance from the load when operating and adjusting the load being lifted. The operator stood/crouched directly next to the mechanical sheet lifter while manipulating the sheet lifter to secure the sheet lifter around sheet pile to be lifted. This exposed the operator to a struck by and crushing hazard.
