29 CFR 1926.1417(u)(1): The crane was allowed to travel with a suspended load when the manufacturer prohibited the practice. On or about July 5, 2012 a Terex HC110 crawler crane positioned on a barge was used as part of a multiple crane lift in order to set bridge girders over Lake Butte des Morts, Bridge B-70-266. The crane was allowed to travel while hoisting the load, which was contrary to manufacturer's instructions. Employees were thereby exposed to the hazards associated with crane and load failures.
