Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: TB
Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1): Duties of employers. Every employer shall furnish employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his or her employees: Just For Kids Dentistry did not establish a control plan to minimize or control occupational exposure to Mycobacterium tuberculosis for dental healthcare employees who have daily contact with patients. A feasible and accepted abatement method for reducing this hazard, as recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is to follow the Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Health-Care Settings and develop a written tuberculosis (TB) control plan. Reference: Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Health-Care Settings, 2003. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, MMWR 2003;52(No. RR-17):1-61. - M. Tuberculosis - Because potential for transmission of M. tuberculosis exists in outpatient settings, dental practices should develop a TB control program appropriate for their level of risk.
