Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards: a)8820 Arbor Glen Lane, on or about April 17, 2013, an employee was struck-by a piece of metal sheared off from a spiral stake by a commercial lawn mower while employees were mowing and trimming the rear yard of a residence and the mower manufacturer recommended removing all objects such as rocks, toys and wire before mowing and warns against the objects being thrown by the moving mower. Among other methods, one feasible method to correct this hazard is to follow the GrandStand Mower Owner's Manual, which states remove all objects such as rocks, toys and wire which can be thrown by the mower or mark ojects which are not removed with a flag.
