Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
North Carolina General Statue 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards from vehicular traffic: a)I-74 East - an employee operating a tractor mower, New Holland, model TB100, on a controlled access highway was exposed to vehicular traffic. ABATEMENT NOTE: 1)Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to transport tractor mowers by trailer from one project site to another site. Reference: The hazard was recognized in the DOT contract (proposal # 54-CH-08-11059461, page 14) that defines deadheading as relocating equipment from one project site to another without the use of a trailer which is not permitted.
